History of Turkish Steel Prices
Steel is one of the most important materials used in the construction of products. It consists of two main components, iron and carbon, and has a variety of properties and uses. Also, Turkish companies are part of the global market for steel and process this material for demands. These properties and uses are determined by a certain payment amount per metric ton of steel. Generally, prices are expressed in US Dollars and calculated according to this payment.
History of Turkish steel prices
The Turkish steel industry has many advantages over its competitors, such as its geographical location close to the EU, a high-value export market, and the ability to switch between domestic and export markets with relative ease. Although there is no market share in the USA and EU, Turkey's production capacity is close to the coast and transportation costs are low. Therefore, it is possible for Turkish manufacturers to switch between domestic and export markets.
Turkish Steel Producers
Turkish producers have diversified their export markets in the last two years, contributing to their sales in existing markets and establishing new customer bases in South East Asia. Although the local market in Turkey is still weak, it is important to remember that Turkish steel has a strong influence on global markets. As a result, Turkish steel prices can be a leading indicator of price changes for other steel products. The European Union is Turkey's largest export destination.

In addition to lowering the price of Turkish steel, the country also continues to have strong steel exports. This includes the USA and China. These countries are the world's sixth and seventh largest scrap importers, and their domestic markets account for around %7 of the EU's total GDP. In the past, the Turkish steel industry was highly dependent on the US for most of its raw material. However, the EU is an important export market with a very strong demand for this metal.
The depreciation of the Turkish currency in 2015 brought the market to a standstill. Turkish steelmakers were unable to attract new buyers as investors and producers fled the country. This weakened the Turkish steel industry and caused a global decline in its prices. While it is a good time for the Turkish steel market to be in a good place, the Turkish economy still needs more foreign currency.
